Prime Minister's Office

Advocating for review of Laws

The National Economic Empowerment Council has the function of studying and reviewing various laws with the view of making recommendations for amendments as may be necessary in order to ensure the facilitation or realization of the objectives of the National Economic Empowerment Policy and Act of 2004. The Council is vested with this function under section 5(2) (n) of the National Economic Empowerment Act of 2004.

In implementing this activity the Council shall work closely with both the private and public sectors in order to identify the bottlenecks or legal and regulatory barriers that face Tanzanians in carrying out various economic activities. Once the barriers are identified the Council shall advocate for the review of the legal and regulatory frameworks that are not in line with the Act to the respective Government institutions in order to ensure that the majority of Tanzanians are economically empowered.
